Erie Insurance developed an insurance policy specifically designed for the small contractor. Erie's
Fivestar for Contractors Policy is designed for contractors and subcontractor with 10 or less employees
and is based on number of employees and not payroll.
This policy offers general liability for contractors but can also provide tool coverage, installation coverage,
voluntary property damage coverage, contractors equipment coverage and other important endorsements for
contractors. These coverages are not standard but can be added for extra premium at not a lot of extra cost.
Erie also offers a Contractor’s Enhancement Endorsement that includes several of these coverages in one
endorsement.
Tool Coverage - The Tool Coverage forms are designed to provide coverage for portable hand tools, both powered
and non-powered used on and off premises by those in construction, service, and machinery maintenance trades.
Installation Coverage – (If Comprehensive Perils are chosen) covers materials, supplies, equipment and fixtures
described in the Declarations against all risks of loss or damage except as specifically excluded in the form.
Voluntary Property Damage Coverage - provides coverage for unintentional damage to property of others caused
by the Insured while the property is in the care, custody, or control of the Insured. This coverage is
designed for Insureds who do not bring property of others to their own premises.
Contractors Equipment Coverage - The Contractors Equipment Coverage form is designed to provide coverage
larger tools or equipment such as excavation equipment or landscaper's lawn maintenance equipment.
